Cigar: Viking Thor's Hammer by Royal Danish Cigars

Good command

By removing Thor's Hammer from the protective shirt, I had a good feeling. This feeling was undoubtedly influenced by the opinion of my friend who recommended this cigar to me (Łukasz's greetings :)), and the first impression when I saw them in the humidor. The Gordo format (fat / thick) actually fits in the palm of your hand and has the impression of a "concrete" cigar. Ornate ring, in the Viking style, with the leading color of deep, metallized red, and the coat of arms with the inscription Royal Danish Cigars (Danish Royal Cigars), announces a cigar extraordinary. It is hard to ignore the first impression, although it has led me astray several times (I did not appreciate a few very decent cigars because they looked average, but on another occasion).

Ring - with an interesting history in the background

Very wide ring - properly occupying 1/3 of 13 cm cigar, is made very carefully. Metallized print, deep red background with underprints, silver and gold accents, build a sense of luxury and uniqueness. In addition, the herb with information about the "royal" origin adds an extra flavor of nobility. The ring is well fitted - it can be moved gently. On the other side of the ring we find interesting and unusual for information cigars.

The annotation informs us that Thor's Hammer, as a symbol of honor, was allowed to be placed on tombstones of American soldiers. The "symbol of honor" is a reference to the legend of Mjolar. Because the mythical hammer symbolized a weapon of great power (the word Mjölnir or Mjølner literally means "mill"), only a man who was worthy of it could rule it.

Driven by curiosity, I checked the details of the admission by the US Department of Veterans Affairs, placing a pagan symbol on soldiers' tombstones. The consent was granted quietly in 2009, but it was subject to a very unusual condition. For a soldier must have diedwho profess the Odinite faith, which is symbolized by Mjölnir. The fallen soldier was Shane - a sergeant in the Marine Corps, and he died in August 2012. After his death, his mother campaigned for the Department not only to allow Shane to place the Mjölnir symbol on his tombstone, but also to let the same symbol appear on the tombstone of her husband Mark, who was buried by the Department of Veterans Affairs under an empty tombstone at on the basis of stricter rules, a few years earlier. After ten months of bureaucracy, the Department finally resigned. And Thor's Hammer appeared on the gravestones.

I suppose that in addition to the information function, the ring is addressed directly to American soldiers, whose tradition is smoking cigars after successful action, or after receiving promotion. Perhaps the ring carries a message for them that brave warriors, dying in the service of their country, they can count on a burial in accordance with their values.

Smoking

Because of the large diameter of the cigar, I chose incision v with the cutter, which is much less of a problem than cutting with the usual cutter of the entire hood, with such a large ring.

Atmospheric conditions: temperature 16 ° C (felt about 12 ° C), no wind, atmospheric pressure: 1002 hPa.

Lighting

enkindle it did not cause the slightest problem. The cigar has an excellent string. Everyone, even novice aficionado, will manage "singing". Remember to use the so-called multi-lighter lighters. jets, keep a safe distance from the foot, so as not to overheat - and as a result - spoil the cigar. Thor's Hammer is sensitive to it.

Immediately after two three slow strokes, a small problem appeared - uneven combustion around the perimeter. It required a small correction by a lighter - later a similar problem did not appear. The cigar burned evenly to the very end.

The first third "hay" (burning time: 15 minutes)

The first third was a bit oak. You could smell tannins and some spicy spices and, of course, nuts.

The second third "sky" (burning time: 20 minutes)

In the second period, tannins and the sharpness of spices completely disappeared. The aromas of nuts and skin have grown, and coffee has appeared. Due to the large size of the ring, before the second period it was necessary to take it off.

Third "hell" (burning time: 30 minutes)

The third third actually did not bring changes in aromas. It is worth noting that the cigar did not require "degassing". Until the very end, it gently burned in aroma and did not quiver in my mouth. Perhaps with this cigar You can talk about "heaven" until the very end.

Smoke and ash

Smoke cool, sweet, rich, very pleasant. Well-felt aromas in the nose. Bright ash, stiff in the structure, to keep on the cigar within the third.

In one word

Medium cigar in power. Burning time: 60 min. Very clear aromas. You can easily recommend it as a gift cigar, even for beginners aficionado. In my subjective scale of power 5/10, and quality for the price of 7/10. I would recommend!
