Going for a walk to the forest or park you surely saw different trees. Some were tiny, some quite large. With trees is the same as with people first, they are tiny, then grow and grow until they are grown up and stop growing and sometimes become fatter.
You've certainly noticed that adults are different in height, some are very low, others can be very tall. Is trees similar?
Of course! there are trees that are several millimeters high, i.e. they are the size of the smallest lego block, and grow in very cold places of our planet.
There are also very tall trees. The highest tree (eucalyptus) in the world grew in Australia and was up to 143 meters high. And it is as high as if you put one on the other 10, 4 storeys blocks, or arrange a thousand chocolate bars next to each other. The tallest trees in Poland are around 51 meters long and are spruces and firs - our good Christmas trees.
The largest living trees are 115 meters high and are still growing! they are so thick that tunnels are made in them so that they can drive cars.
But why are the weather so high and when they know that they are going to stop growing? Make yourself that there are many straws inside the tree. so straws - similar to those you use to drink juice. These wood straws are very small and can be really long (even a few meters). The longer the straws are, the harder it is to drink through the trees. The tree is drinking water that is in the ground. He drinks it with roots and delivers straws to the leaves. If it can no longer deliver water to the leaves, the tree ceases to grow. The higher the tree, the smaller the list, if it is small, its list may be up to one meter long, and the length meter has about 7 chocolate bars next to each other.
Have you ever tried to drink juice using a straw for sure. But did you try to make a mega straw? Make a simple experiment. Start by joining five straws together (eg with adhesive tape) and try to drink the juice from a cup. Then add another 3 straws and try to drink again. Then add one straw and check if you can drink. I wonder how tall you could be a tree? Each straw is 1 meter tall tree, eg 15 straws = 15 m tree.
Going for a walk next time, maybe you will find a tree that is similar to you drinking water through a very long straw?
