Have you ever tried to say nothing for a minute, an hour or a day? Think about it, is it possible to say nothing at all? We have been talking since we just remember. Truth?
You have probably seen small children who do not yet speak words that we can understand, but their mothers always know if their babies are hungry and maybe just get bored.
Why are we talking? It's simple - we say when we want to tell someone something or ask for something.
But can you tell something to someone without saying anything?
Yes, all you need to do is show him his hands or draw on a piece of paper. But there is one more way we have not talked about yet.
Imagine that your mother baked a delicious cake. You just got back home. As soon as you entered, no one had to say anything to you or write or draw. And you already knew that in a moment will be a delicious cake.
Where did you get to know this? yes after the smell!
But can trees speak. Yes of course. The trees talk to each other! They do not have mouths or ears but they can talk to each other just because of the smells.
They are very different fragrances, and each of them means something different.
If any tree gets sick or if some bacteria or insects attack it, for example, bark beetles, this tree informs other trees with a suitable fragrance. Thanks to this scent, other trees know that there is danger in the area. and they can be protected from it by creating a thicker bark. Such a thicker bark is like a knight's armor, it protects the tree against insects.
Such talking trees is much louder than our human conversations. Some trees talk to each other at a distance of hundreds and thousands of meters.
The trees also speak to us. Of course also by smells. One of such fragrances is the smell of resin - it's a sticky substance that the tree protects your abrasions - if you wipe the skin on your belly, scabs appear and in the trees resin. Thanks to the smell of resin, you know that you should not touch this place because you will get dirty.
Next time you go for a walk to the park or forest, close your eyes and draw a few times through the nose. Perhaps you will feel what trees are talking about.
